If your exam will be conducted using Safe Exam Browser, then you will need to install it, in order to have access to the exam.

Safe Exam browser may encounter difficulties when launching, due to some antivirus software.

The following antivirus software will need to be temporarily turned off or uninstalled while using Safe Exam Browser.

Prepare your device for Safe Exam Browser before the exam:

To avoid problems during your online exam in Moodle, you may need to change the sleep and region settings.

Sleep settings

Click the Start menu, then search for Power & sleep settings.
Under On battery power, turn off after, select 1 hour.

Click the Apple icon > System Preferences > Energy Saver > Battery.
Turn off Enable Power Nap while on battery power.
Under Turn display off after, select 1 hour.

Windows region settings

If you have a Windows laptop, set your region to the location where you’ll be sitting your exam.

Step 1 - Click the Start menu, then search for Region settings.

Step 2 - Under Country or region, select the location.

Installing Safe Exam Browser

Step 1 - Check if your laptop/PC meets recommended requirements.

Step 2 - Download and run installer for your device from the mock exam Moodle link that your lecturer before your final exam

IMPORTANT: Linux is not supported

Alternate Way

Step 1 - In the exam link, click on one of the download buttons, depending on which system you use.

Step 2 - The installer will be downloaded to your device

Step 3 - Launch the installer

Step 4 - Accept license terms and conditions agreement and install

Step 5 - Go to the exam on Moodle and click Launch Safe Exam Browser. You MUST launch your exam from here. Doing otherwise will not launch the exam.

Download Safe Exam Browser for Mac

Step 1 - Download the Safe Exam Browser file for MacOS from above.

Step 2 - Drag and drop the package to finish the installation.

Step 3 - The first time you run the browser the following security alert appears, click "Open" to proceed.
