How to report phishing or scam messages in Teams

There have been reports of phishing attempts targeting our Microsoft Teams platform. Phishing is a fraudulent activity where attackers impersonate legitimate entities to steal sensitive information or gain unauthorized access.

What to Look Out For:

  1. Suspicious Links: Be cautious of any unexpected links or attachments received via Teams messages. Always verify the sender’s identity before clicking on any links.

  2. Urgent Requests: Scammers often create a sense of urgency to trick users. If you receive urgent requests for personal information, double-check with the sender through a different communication channel (e.g., email or official website).

What to Do:

In the Microsoft Teams client, hover over the malicious message without selecting it, and then select ... More options > More actions > Report this message.

  1. In the report this message dialog that opens, verify Security risk - Spam, phishing, malicious content is selected, and then select Report.
