USB Device Usage Policy

Purpose
The purpose of this policy is to enhance the security of APU's IT environment by regulating the use of USB storage devices on company computers.
Scope
This policy applies to all employees, contractors, and visitors who use USB storage devices on APU's computers and network.
Policy
Restricted Use of USB Storage Devices: The use of USB storage devices is restricted to pre-registered devices only.
Registration of USB Devices: Employees who require the use of a USB device for their role must contact the TechCentre via email at assist@apu.edu.my with USB device/hardware ID to have the device registered and provide rationale for the USB registration. You can find these IDs using Device Manager on a Windows device.
Prohibited Use: The use of unregistered USB storage devices is strictly prohibited. Any attempt to use such devices will be logged and may be subject to review.
Alternative File Sharing Methods: Employees are encouraged to use OneDrive for secure file storage and sharing, in compliance with IT policies.
Compliance
Failure to comply with this policy may result in disciplinary action.
