Installation guideline for IDA Freeware (macOS - M series)

IDA Freeware is a powerful disassembler and debugger tool used primarily for reverse engineering binary executables. It offers essential functionalities for analysing and understanding compiled code, allowing users to inspect and modify binary files to uncover their inner workings. Despite being a free version of the renowned IDA Pro, IDA Freeware provides robust features for hobbyists, students, and professionals interested in software analysis and security research.


This guide will help you install IDA Freeware on macOS M series.



Download IDA Freeware

Step 1: Go to the IDA Free download page and click on Download.

Step 2: Click on IDA Free for Mac ARM.

Step 3: Double click on arm_idafree84_mac.app.zip.

Result: arm_idafree84_mac will be downloaded.


Install IDA Freeware

Step 1: Double click on arm_idafree84_mac.

Step 2: Click Open.

Step 3: Click Next.

Step 4: Click I accept the agreement then click Next.

Step 5: Click Next.

Step 6: Click Next.

Step 7: Click Finish.


Run IDA Freeware

Step 1: Go to Launchpad and click on ida64 to launch.

Step 2: Click I Agree.

Step 3: Uncheck the box then click OK.

Step 4: Click Go.

Result: IDA Freeware will launch.
