Installation guideline for Webots (macOS - M series)

Introduction

Webots is a versatile and user-friendly robot simulation software used for developing and testing robotic applications. It provides a virtual environment where users can design, program, and simulate various robotic systems, ranging from simple wheeled robots to complex humanoid robots.


This guide is to help you install Webots on macOS M series.



Download Webots

Step 1: Go to Webots download page and select Download macOS bundle.

Result: webots-R2023b.dmg will be downloaded.


Install Webots

Step 1: Double click on webots-R2023b.dmg.

Step 2: In case you get the warning below, proceed to step 3. Else, proceed to step 4.

Step 3: Go to Privacy & Security from Settings and scroll down to see “webots-R2023b.dmg was blocked…..” and click Open Anyway.

Step 4: Use Touch ID or enter your device’s password.

Step 5: Click Open.

Step 6: Drag and drop the Webots icon to the Applications icon.

Step 7: Go to Finder and click on Applications. Locate Webots and right click. Press Control key while clicking Open.

Step 8: Click Open.

Step 9: Select your preferred theme and click Start Webots with the selected theme.

Step 10: Click OK.

Result: Webots will be installed and launched successfully.


Run Webots

Step 1: Go to Launchpad and click on the Webots icon.

Result: Webots will launch.
