Installation guideline for NetBeans IDE (macOS - M series)

NetBeans IDE is a versatile integrated development environment which supports multiple languages, including Java and C++, NetBeans offers efficient tools for coding, debugging, and testing.


This guide is to help you install NetBeans IDE on macOS for the M series.



Downloading Java Development kit

Step 1: Go to Oracle Java downloads page.

Step 2: Click on JDK 21.

Step 3: Click on macOS.

Step 4: Click on link at ARM64 DMG Installer.

Result: jdk-21_macos-aarch64_bin.dmg will be downloaded.


Installing Java Development kit

Step 1: Double click on jdk-21_macos-aarch64_bin.dmg.

Step 2: Double click on JDK 21.0.2.pkg.

Step 3: Click Continue.

Step 4: Click Install.

Step 5: Click Use Password or use your Touch ID.

Step 6: Type in your device’s password and click Install Software.

Result: JDK 21.0.2 has been installed successfully.


Downloading NetBeans

Step 1: Download NetBeans through this link, an automatic download will start.

Result: Apache-NetBeans-20.pkg will be downloaded.


Installing NetBeans

Step 1: Double click on Apache-NetBeans-20.pkg.

Step 2: Click Continue.

Step 3: Click Install.

Step 4: Click Use Password or use your Touch ID.

Step 5: Type in your device’s password and click Install Software.

Step 6: Click Close.


Run NetBeans

Step 1: Click on the Apache NetBeans icon in Launchpad.

Result:
