Installation guideline for Cisco Packet Tracer (macOS - M series)
Cisco Packet Tracer is a powerful network simulation tool utilised for teaching, learning, and practising networking concepts. Developed by Cisco Systems, it provides a virtual environment where users can design, configure, and troubleshoot networks using a wide range of devices. Whether for educational purposes in academic institutions or for network professionals honing their skills, Packet Tracer offers a safe and efficient platform to explore networking technologies and scenarios.
This guide will help you install Cisco Packet Tracer on macOS M series.
Installation Video
Create Account
Step 1: Go to the official website and click on Log In.
Step 2: Click Login.
Step 3: Click Sign up.
Step 4: Fill in the fields below then click Continue.
Your country or region of residence | “Malaysia” |
Year of Birth | Your birth year |
Month of Birth | Your birth month |
Step 5: Fill in the fields below then click Create account.
First name, Last name | Enter your first and last name |
Enter your “TP mail “ e.g TPXXXXX@mail.apu.edu.my | |
Password | Enter a strong password of your choice |
Confirm Password | Repeat your password for confirmation |
Step 6: Go to your TP mail. Locate and click on the email from the Networking Academy Team. Then click on Activate account.
Step 7: Click on Click here to proceed.
Step 8: Click on CISCO Networking Academy.
Step 9: Enter your “TP mail “ then click Login.
Step 10: Enter your password then click Login.
Step 11: Select “Malaysia” as State.
Step 12: Select your years of practical experience in IT, networking and cybersecurity. Next click Create Account.
Download Packet Tracer
Step 1: Go to Resources then click on Download Packet Tracer.
Step 2: Scroll down then click 64 Bit Download for macOS Version 8.2.2 English.
Result: Cisco Packet Tracer 8.2.2 will be downloaded.
Install Packet Tracer
Step 1: Double click on the installer.
Step 2: Double click on PacketTracer822_Build400_mac.
Step 3: Click Open.
Step 4: Click Continue.
Step 5: Click Install.
Step 6: Wait for installation.
Step 7: Enter your device’s password then click OK.
Step 8: Click Done.
Run Packet Tracer
Step 1: Go to Launchpad and click on Cisco Packet Tracer 8.2.2.
Step 2: Click Yes.
Step 3: Click on CISCO Networking Academy.
Step 4: Enter your “TP mail “ then click Login.
Step 5: Enter your password then click Login.
Result: Cisco Packet Tracer will launch.
