Installation guideline for VLC (macOS - M series)

Introduction

VLC Media Player, developed by VideoLAN, is a versatile and widely-used open-source multimedia player. Renowned for its compatibility with various audio and video formats, VLC provides users with a seamless playback experience. Beyond its primary function as a media player, VLC offers advanced features such as streaming capabilities and customizable options.


This guide is to help you install VLC on macOS M series.



Download VLC

Step 1: Go to the VLC download page and click Download VLC.

Result: vlc-3.0.20-arm64.dmg will be downloaded.


Install VLC

Step 1: Double click on vlc-3.0.20-arm64.dmg.

Step 2: Drag and drop the VLC icon to the Applications icon.

Step 3: Double click on the VLC icon to launch.

Step 4: Click Open.

Step 5: Click Enable Metadata Retrieval.

Result: VLC has been installed and launched successfully.


Run VLC

Step 1: Click on the VLC icon in Launchpad.

Step 2: Click Open.

Result: VLC will launch.
