Installation guideline for Unity Editor (macOS - M series)
Unity Editor is a powerful and versatile development environment designed for creating interactive 2D, 3D, augmented reality (AR), and virtual reality (VR) experiences. It serves as the central hub for game and application development in the Unity game engine, offering a user-friendly interface for designing scenes, importing assets, scripting behaviors, and testing projects.
This guide will help you install Unity Editor for macOS M1/M2 chip.
Installation Video
Signing Up for Unity Student Plan
Step 1: Go to Unity Student plan and scroll down until you see “Apply for the Unity Student plan” and click on Get Started for Post-secondary students.
Step 2: Click on create one to create a Unity account.
Step 3: Fill in the fields below.
Email: | Your TP mail e.g TPXXXXXX@mail.apu.edu.my |
Password: | A strong password of your choice |
Username: | A username of your choice |
Full Name: | Your full name |
Step 4: Check the boxes below to agree with Unity Terms of Service and Unity Privacy Policy. Complete the reCAPTCHA verification and click Create a Unity ID.
Step 5: Go to your TP mail account and find the email titled “Confirm your email address” and click on Link to confirm email.
Step 6: Complete the reCAPTCHA verification and click verify.
Step 7: Enter your “TP email” and “Password”. Then click Sign in.
Step 8: Click Continue.
Step 9: Enter your “First name”, “Last name”, and “Date of birth”.
Step 10: Fill in the fields below.

Country: | “Malaysia” |
College/University: | “Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation (APU) (Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan)” |

Step 11: Check the box to agree with Unity Terms of Service and click Verify My Student Status.
Step 12: Click on Sign in to my school.
Step 13: Enter your “TP mail ” and click Next.
Step 14: Enter your “Password ” and click Sign In.
Result: The message below will be shown when verification is completed.
Download Unity Hub
Step 1: Go to Unity download page. Scroll down and click on Download for Mac.
Result: UnityHubSetup.dmg will be downloaded.
Installing Unity Hub
Step 1: Double click on UnityHubSetup.dmg..
Step 2: Click on Agree.
Step 3: Drag the Unity Hub icon to the Applications icon.
Step 4: Double click on Unity hub icon.
Step 5: Click Open.
Result: Unity Hub will launch.
Downloading Unity Editor
Step 1: Click on Sign in.
Step 2: Click on Skip installation.
Step 3: Click on Install Editor.
Step 4: Click Archive, and then click download archive.
Step 5: Click on Unity 2023.X then find “Unity 2023.2.10” and click on Unity Hub.
Step 6: Click on Open Unity Hub
Step 7: Click on Install next to 2023.2.10f1 version for Silicon.
Step 8: Select the modules required for your use case then click on Continue.
Step 9: Click on the box to agree with the Terms and conditions then click on Install.
Result: Unity 2023.2.10f1 will start installing.
Run Unity Editor
Step 1: Click on the Unity Hub icon in Launchpad.
Result: Unity Editor is installed.
